Nepal’s Voter Count Reaches 19.09 Million, Adding 187,000 in One Year

Kathmandu: Nepal now has 19,091,375 registered voters, according to the final voter list published by the Election Commission on Friday.
The latest figures show that the country has added 187,686 voters compared with the total recorded during the 2026 House of Representatives election.
According to the Election Commission, the final list includes 9,769,825 men, 9,321,336 women and 214 voters listed under the “other” category.
The commission has been updating the voter list since March 22, 2026. The process included registering new voters, correcting personal details, transferring addresses and removing the names of deceased voters.
The preliminary voter list, published on September 17, contained 19,294,961 names. It included people who had registered by August 31 and had reached the age of 18 by that date.
During the review process, the commission added 430,352 eligible voters. It also removed names because of deaths, duplicate registrations, citizenship cancellations or renunciations, and other objections.
After further verification, 203,586 additional names were removed from the preliminary list. Of these, 45,322 were deceased voters, while 158,264 were removed for reasons including duplicate entries and other registration issues.
Following the necessary checks and corrections, the Election Commission published the final voter list on October 16, 2026.
